AGM NOTICE

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 4th March 2020 at 8 pm in the Club House. It has been a fantastic year for the Club with the replacement of the floodlights and courts, the upgrading of the electrics and the refurbishment of the Club House and the Top Building, and now is the time to build on that success.

In accordance with our constitution as a charity, two Trustees are required to stand down. This year, Michael Vaughan, our Chairman and Geoff Green our Treasurer will be standing down, and both have decided not to stand for reelection. Both will, of course, be continuing to play at the Club and will support it informally, but what better way to thank them for their enormous contribution than to volunteer to join our Management Team to help take the Club forward. Michael, has, of course, made a phenomenal contribution over the past 5 years and as things stand there is no candidate to replace him as Chairman. The Board is minded to operate with a larger Management Team with members taking responsibility for tasks, large and small, as well as hoping a new Chairman will emerge to provide leadership and co-ordination.

Now is the time for you, our members, to stand up and be counted. Please join us at the AGM to celebrate our success and help ensure it continues. If you feel able to take on a specific responsibility or formally join the Management Team, please speak to any Management Team Member as soon as possible.

The meeting agenda is attached 2020 AGM Agenda and the papers relevant to the meeting will be distributed week commencing 17 February 2020. If there are any specific issues you want to raise please contact the Club Secretary John Davey pbtcsecretary@gmail.com in advance or there will be the opportunity at the meeting. Please note we will be proposing the following increases in subscriptions to take account of the expenditure on improved facilities and the fact subscriptions have not been increased for several years:

  • Full adult membership to increase from £210 to £220 with a £10 discount for payment by 30 April 2020
  • Membership of PBTC Social Ltd to increase from £15 to £20

It is also proposed to increase the match practice fee from £2 to £3 to more accurately reflect the cost of providing of new balls and the use of floodlights for 2hrs+ each night over the year
