Coronavirus update 2

We need to update our guidance to Members following the Government’s guidance on Social Distancing and the closure of schools and drinking establishments and LTA advice. We have decided that as at 21 March 2020 the Tennis Club can remain open for play subject to the following precautions:

Firstly, if anyone believes they have the symptoms of the coronavirus (a high temperature or a new, continuous cough) or has been in close contact with someone who does, please stay away from the Club until you have completed self quarantine or been tested and are all clear. Should you test positive, please inform the Club so we can advise other Members of the situation.

Secondly, please wash your hands before and after playing tennis.

Thirdly, please refrain from shaking hands at the end of matches and don’t change ends during play.

However, the club house should not be used and is no longer available for hire. Therefore, the bar is closed until further notice. The Top Building is also closed

Rotas, match practice, singles and open sessions will continue as usual for those who decide to continue playing but all matches involving other clubs have been cancelled until further notice. Robbie Watt has kindly agreed to make balls and floodlight tokens available on the day rjwatt@outlook.com

The Junior and Disabled Sessions on Friday 20 March are the last until after Easter when there will be a further update. Coaching may continue and the latest LTA advice to coaches is at https://www.lta.org.uk/workforce-venues/coach-teach/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-coaches/

Pam’s Quiz Night on 4th April has been cancelled.

The situation is highly dynamic and these arrangements can change at short notice so please watch out for updates on the website, notice boards and email.
