Senior Finals Day – Sunday 18th July 2021

Firstly, congratulations to all players that have taken part in this year’s senior tournament and have contributed to making it a success.

Over 85 matches have already been played and we now have our finalists – please use this link
Senior Finals Day 2021 – Order of Play.
Play will be starting at 10.00 am.

There will be some great tennis to watch, so please come down and show your support to all the finalists. Without supporters it is just not a final!!

The government has announced that we will be moving to Stage 4 on the 19th July so social distancing restrictions, e.g. the outdoor rule of 30, will still be in place on the day. Access to the clubhouse will therefore be restricted to authorised persons and to those needing to use the toilets. We will be setting up the furniture on the veranda, the patio and by the top building to comply with the present restrictions, and we kindly ask that furniture is not moved to a different location.

Current LTA guidance relating to outdoor tennis events can be found at https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19—latest-advice/#england. We will be issuing further guidance regarding Stage 4 in due course.

It is expected to be both warm and sunny so there is no reason we cannot enjoy being outdoors. Although with the temperature anticipated to peak around 27 degrees, if you are attending, please ensure you take adequate precautions.

The bar will be open from 10am and will be serving drinks (including mojitos, prosecco and Pimms) from the window. Ice poles and ice lollies will also be available. Payment at the bar can be made by both cash and card.

The BBQ will be serving burgers and South African boerewors sausages from around midday onwards. Vegan / vegetarian alternatives will also be served. If you wish to purchase anything from the BBQ, please pay at the bar and then show your receipt when collecting your food.

Complimentary squash will be made available from an outside stand. Tea and coffee will also be available throughout the day, with strawberries and cakes also being served from the outside stand after 2pm. To enjoy these delicacies, and the hot drinks, please purchase a refreshment pass from the bar (£3).

A huge thank you to all who have helped to prepare the club for this event and also to those who have offered to umpire, help behind the bar, operate the BBQ, make cakes and serve the refreshments. But we are still looking for more. We could do with more help with the refreshments and also to sell tickets for a 50/50 raffle. If you are willing to help in any way, please contact Robbie Watt via email (rjwatt@outlook.com).

We are aiming to host the prize giving ceremony, for both the 2020 and 2021 tournaments, on 31st July at 5pm. It is hoped that this can take place in the bar. More details about it will be sent out soon.

Junior finals day will take place on Saturday 17th July from 10am onwards for our youngest of players aged 6 years to our eldest juniors playing in the under-18 event at 2pm. There will be 45 participants taking part in competitive tennis on this day. The organisers would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the event in advance.

Thank you and here’s to a great day!
