DESCRIPTION:This is an event not to be missed! \nWe invite you to bring your friends and family to enjoy a fantastic fun evening\, with virtual horse races. The event features televised horse races\, which will be projected onto the large screen in the club house for all to see\, and you’ll feel the excitement build as the horses get under starters orders\, and race down the track to the finishing post. With bookies and a tote\, it’s very easy to place your bets\, for your chance to win.There will be a fully stocked bar\, so you can enjoy a really fun night. Dress code is ‘anything goes’! Doors open at 7pm\, with the first race at 7.30pm. \nPlease let us know your attendance by emailing pbtcracenight@gmail.com  \nWhether you can attend or not\, you can still get involved by purchasing a horse for £5 in advance (you can name your horse and if it wins\, you’ll also receive prize money). DESCRIPTION:The Big Sporting Lunch \nBrancaster Lane will be holding a street party on Sunday 2 June 2024 – The Big Sporting Lunch . As a result the road will be closed on  Brancaster Lane outside our entrance from 9am-7pm\, the car park will not be accessible and you are advised to use Purley Bury Avenue if you are driving to the Club. The event itself will run from 10am-6pm. Our Sunday morning Tennis session will run as usual\, but from 1pm-4pm 4 courts have been reserved for an open session for those attending the event. You are also welcome to use the courts and bring your friends. \nWe will again be running the Bake Off Cake Sale. If you want to take part\, please make sure you take your cake to the Tennis Club by 12pm to be judged. If you want to donate a cake\, the tennis club will be happy to sell slices on your behalf\, with all proceeds going to Purley Bury Food Hub. \nThe Bar will be open from 12 noon-4pm \n

SUMMARY:Winter Tournament Finals and Summer Tournament Draw
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to confirm that the Club will be running Senior and Junior Tournaments this year. Junior Finals Day will be on Saturday 8th of July and Senior Finals Day will be on the following Saturday\, 15th of July.  \nThere will be the usual main events with plate competitions running alongside each of them for anyone eliminated in the first rounds. Players will automatically be entered into the plate competitions so there will be an opportunity for everyone to play lots of tennis.We are happy to confirm the return of a popular introduction from last year\, Vets over 45 singles tournaments. You must fit in that age bracket when you apply\, so before the end of April. The Vets finals will likely not be on the same day as the other finals\, because of scheduling difficulties.\nThe events are:- \n· Ladies’ Singles \n· Men’s Singles \n· Ladies’ Doubles \n· Men’s Doubles \n· Mixed Doubles \n· Men’s Vets Singles  (Over 45) \n· Ladies Vets Singles (Over 45) \nOne important change this year… \nIn all matches before the final\, you and your opponent(s) can chose to agree to play a full 3rd set if you are level on 1 set each. You must have this discussion before the match starts and agree 3 full sets is preferred by both parties. If you cannot agree\, the format will remain the same as previous years where a championship tiebreak to 10 replaces the third set\, so this should be seen as the default. Championship tiebreaks will also be used on finals day\, so all matches can be played within a limited schedule. \nWe will draw the tournament live at the clubhouse on Sunday the 30th of April and make the draws available to all entrants digitally and in the tea room shortly after. On the 30th\, we are hosting a winter finals day\, so there will be tennis to watch from 1pm\, with the summer tournament draw and drinks to be enjoyed immediately afterwards. Important to note the following day is a bank holiday! \nThe matches confirmed currently are below: \nMen’s doubles \nDavid Barden & Anthony Macpherson \nvs \nRyan Harper-Bermejo & Michael Coulon \n  \nLadies Doubles \nBeckie Glazebrook & Lucy Bear \nvs \nCatherine Kennedy & Sara Hindley \n  \nThere should also be a mixed doubles final to watch\, but all the finalists are not yet confirmed. \n  \nTournament registration and match results will be submitted digitally as is the new norm. But the wall charts will also be up in the tea room once the competitions have started\, so you can plot your route to the final. To enter\, please send an email to pbtctournament@gmail.com. \nThere is no entry fee for any of the events but please note that the club does not provide balls for tournament matches other than the finals\, so you will need to bring your own. To participate you must also have paid your subscription for the upcoming membership year. DESCRIPTION:Finals Day Saturday 16 July 2022 Order of Play \nSenior Finals’ Day (Saturday 16th July) is fast approaching. The tournament is running well and some fantastic matches have been played. \nThe day itself\, which will consist of 10 finals played on two courts\, always proves to be a great success and is easily the biggest event in the club’s calendar. An order of play for the main and the plate tournaments\, with timings\, will be published early next week. \nThe works on the veranda are now progressing and we are confident the clubhouse and all the usual outdoor seating areas will be fully accessible on the day. We are also hoping for good weather. \nThe bar will be open from 10am and will be serving drinks (including mojitos\, prosecco and Pimms). Ice poles and lollies will also be available. Payment at the bar can be made by both cash and card. \nThe BBQ will be serving burgers and South African boerewors sausages from around midday onwards. Vegan / vegetarian alternatives will also be served. If you wish to purchase anything from the BBQ\, please pay at the bar and show your receipt when collecting your food. \nComplimentary squash and water will be made available from an outside stand in the car park. Self-service tea and coffee will also be available throughout the day\, with strawberries and cakes also being served from the outside stand from around 2pm. To enjoy these delicacies\, and the hot drinks\, please purchase a refreshments pass from the bar (£3). \nAs finals’ day is an opportunity to showcase our club to local residents\, sponsors and prospective members\, we need to ensure the club looks at its best. We recently sent out a communication for working party volunteers on the mornings of Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 10th July.
