Club Captain

We are sorry to announce that, due to injury, Nathan Ascott, our Club Captain, has decided not to rejoin the Club this year and has resigned from the Management Board. We would like to thank him for the work he put in as Club Captain and wish him a full recovery on his wrist. Hopefully he will rejoin the club once he is fit again.

We are pleased to report that Gaz (Harrison) Walsh has agreed to replace Nathan as Club Captain. He is a team player who has been a member for several years and he is well placed to help organise our teams, match practice and the senior tournament. Please give him your support to make sure the task does not become unnecessarily onerous!

Membership Renewals

Thank you to all members who have renewed their membership and paid in good time. Will anyone who still wishes to renew their membership please do so as soon as possible please as we will be checking in the next couple of days..

The Big Sporting Lunch

Brancaster Lane will be holding a street party on Sunday 2 June 2024 – The Big Sporting Lunch . As a result the road will be closed on  Brancaster Lane outside our entrance from 9am-7pm, the car park will not be accessible and you are advised to use Purley Bury Avenue if you are driving to the Club. The event itself will run from 10am-6pm. Our Sunday morning Tennis session will run as usual, but from 1pm-4pm 4 courts have been reserved for an open session for those attending the event. You are also welcome to use the courts and bring your friends.

We will again be running the Bake Off Cake Sale. If you want to take part, please make sure you take your cake to the Tennis Club by 12pm to be judged. If you want to donate a cake, the tennis club will be happy to sell slices on your behalf, with all proceeds going to Purley Bury Food Hub.

The Bar will be open from 12 noon-4pm

Juniors

Our 9U and 11U Teams played their National Junior Winter Finals this month against Esher Tennis Club, who fielded County players, which was a real test for our players.

We lost in both the 9U and 11U Finals but gave a very good account of ourselves and battled well. A fantastic effort making it to the finals from the following players:

9U Team – Bea, Shanaya, Barnaby, Oscar

11U Team – Aryan, Leon

Our teams continue the good run this Summer with many undefeated thus far and looking good to win their respective divisions.

TERM-TIME SESSIONS AND FRIDAY FUN NIGHT

All our sessions continue to be busy with many of our groups full. Friday night has been very busy since Easter and long may this continue. We are hoping that summer will arrive very soon!
